"You might be my creator, but you are NOT my father! Fathers are kind. Fathers protect you. Fathers raise you. I was protected by the monks of Azarath. I was raised by my friends. They are my family, this is my home and you are not welcome here! Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos …!!" . :
About the Costume Completely self-made and man, was I under time pressure! The leotard is made of faux stretchy leather in a slight off-white tone, as are the shoes. Wig is self-styled and the gems are self-made too. But there is still a lot I want to redo and make better for a reshooting very soon, I hope, maybe even with my pretty Starfire. (the form of her hood for example. I didn't have enough fabric left …) I also really love her appearance in season 4 episode 13, "The end part 3". Ah but I'm generally in love with all the Raven-centered episodes and I plan on making more Raven costumes. I felt very comfortable wearing this costume and I'm very happy I got to portray her, even if it was just a test run. So yeah, I'm really looking forward to re-wear it and re-shoot it with epic smoke or something.
My feelings towards Raven Raaaveeeen oh my glob I have so many feels for her. She's one of my favourite character of all time and she did shape my childhood a lot. I loved how unconventional she was, how she was "not creepy, just different" and later, when I did more research and found out how she, despite her looks, is actually a very hopeful person, my love for her grew even more. Fighting against her destiny because she decided to be good, trying so desperately to find another way because she doesn't want to destroy everything -- it's very close to what I believe in myself, which is that there is always a certain room for our own deeds and influences, even within our "destiny". And it is completely up to us to decide what's right for us and what not. …… Plus I ship BBrae really really hard and Greg Cipes and Tara Strong are killing me with their tweets and instagram photos OTL Sooo yeah. Lot of emotions flowed into this costume. This was really meant to be more as a test run, actually, and I am so very happy that I can, imo, pull her off quite well. (Do you even know how many favourite characters I have which I can not cosplay because my type doesn't fit …like, at all and I would just be unhappy with it? Too many! T_T Ahh so I'm really glad about Raven.) For all the BBRae shippers out there: check out "Metrion" by Veela. 10000% BBRae/ general raven feels. Haaaaah –!
This is... the coolest cos-play pic I have ever seen of raven! I just love how her capes flowing in the wind. The fact that you didn't use her blue cape, but instead used her white cape, I mean I know the blue is more on the traditional side, but her pale skin goes perfectly with the white! I mean this is just beautiful! Perfection! I also very much love how there's a reflection on the building behind her! Love it! Beautiful! I tried to find something bad about this, I mean I looked at every thing, but was unable to. that's how great this is!
This is nice, I don't really see any flaws with it, it looks beautiful. I like how her hands are up it gives the feeling that she was flying. Nice makeup, wig works perfectly with it, I see the reflection in the background, probably a glass building. If it's not, then that doesn't matter. The costume was really well done, photography was well done also, um... The costume is CLEAN. I like that. Well, I guess that's all I have to say, nice job, and I hope you have fun doing more cosplay. So, nothing bad about it, all in all, great job.
This is a wonderful cosplay of a great character. The amount of effort put into this is apparent after a mere glance. I am particularly impressed by your choice of body paint color, as it perfectly compliments the white cloak and leotard. Overall this is very well done. On a side note, in the description, I noticed that you stated she was a very hopeful character in spite of her looks. I was just wondering what that meant in terms of her appearance. I personally always thought she had a very beautiful design, but I really like hearing the opinions of other fans on those kind of subjects.
Hi there! I'm so sorry for the late reply! I really enjoyed reading this comment, thank you for taking your time to share your thoughts with me ,; v ;, Took me forever to get the grey tone just right! But I must say that the whole athmosphere got ps'd by tinting everything more blue-ish, so that probably helped, too. To answer your question about Raven being a hopeful character in spite of her looks and what I mean with that … well, I too, think that her design is very beautiful and has always been very appealing to me, but she has also often been depicted as a very 'gloomy' character, which I think is mainly due to her being a half-demon and that she, to control that side, had to be in touch with all sides of her personality, even the dark and scary facettes of herself. I think she just came to accept and maybe even like these 'dark' things, then, and imo this aspect shows strongly in her colour schemes – dark blue, grey-ish skin, black, deep purple …and the episode where her room was shown? ("Nevermore") – the things surrounding her are also rather dark. I think if people saw Raven without ever having watched or read anything of the Teen Titans, they would not think of her as a 'hopeful character'. But imo she really is, because she never gave in to her so called 'destiny'– she refused to believe something that people have told her her whole life ( that she'd be the portal to Trigon and would destroy the world), and she decided to fight it, hoped she could change it. And then she did.
Haha, sorry for the wall of text! Kinda spilled my Raven-love all over the place … I bet you don't even remember having asked this one month ago <'D! But anyway! I hope I could help with my explanation.
Haha, thank you for responding. I really appreciate that you replied to my comment. It's great to talk to someone with such a deep passion for the character. I must say that I completely agree with everything you said. It is a very thought provoking analysis that shows a great understanding of an intriguing character. I must have misunderstood that "looks" were actually meant to refer to her outlook on life rather than her appearance, so sorry if my question seemed a bit odd. Thank you for the clarification. Good luck in your future cosplays, as it is quite clear that you have very substantial talent and love for it.
You're very welcome! I'm just sorry it took me so long to reply! >3< I should check in here more often …
I'm also glad that I've been understood! English isn't my first language and I tend to write everything a bit …overly complicated! >_<! I'm working on it though.
!! Ah, I think it can apply on her outlook on life as well as on her appearance, I guess, since they're both rather …dark? <'D (although it changed, then) Nah, your question was perfectly fine, I think I'm just having some troubles to express myself properly …buuuut I'm working on it!
Thanks a lot, and also thank you for your watch! I appreciate the support a lot! Let's chat again sometime! It's fun talking to you!
It's been fun talking to you too. For someone who has English as a second language, you speak it very well. There is no need to apologize for the late reply by the way. It is completely understandable. Talk to you again soon.
